Reflection forward is a juried art show hosted by the Gallery at Hood Street in honor of the City of McDonough’s Bicentennial. We are looking for artwork submissions that encompass the meaning and expression of what “Reflection Forward” means to the individual artist or what it means to our wonderful City. Let your imagination run free! The Gallery at Hood Street will determine the works chosen to be on display during the show. A panel of jurors will select the first, second and third place winners to be announced at the opening reception on August 24, 2023.

There is a $35.00 Entry Fee which covers the submission of up to three pieces (pieces are not guaranteed to be chosen). Upon signing up, you will need to complete your entry forms and email them to info@galleryathoodstreet.com. See forms for important deadline dates, rules and guidelines.

Our 4th and final class of the summer is here. Sharpen your craft with us during this two hour figure drawing session. While observing a live model, students will draw rapidly and consider elements such as shape, form and line.

Kids of all ages will learn hand building techniques in order to create a colorful, original, air dry clay animal based on their own imagination! Through this creative process, kids will learn how to come up with an original idea for their colorful creation and see it come to life. They’ll also have fun learning how to use the three marker challenge for art projects which is a hit among kids these days. This is a great class for kids needing a simple and fun summer activity.

This will not be an instructor led class, however, HSAC Resident Artist, Renee Crouser, will be available for questions during the breaks.  For $10.00 at the door, this is a great opportunity to sharpen your skills while being in community with other local artists!

Drawing a blank on gift ideas this holiday season...? How about unique, handmade tree ornaments made with love for that special teacher, grandparent, neighbor or sweetie pie! Join us as we partner with local potter, Abbye Clevenger of bvPottery, for our 1st annual ornament making pottery workshop at the gallery. Make up to 5 ornaments using clay slabs while learning the proper way of rolling a slab, tricks, and techniques for adding texture and depth, and all about underglazes. All ages and skill levels welcome. Supplies/materials included. Christmas cookies and hot cocoa will be enjoyed!

Two things that come to mind when you think of the word relax…Yoga & Wine, of course! Join us for a night of congregation and relaxation in our warehouse. Our sips will be incorporated into the flow; linking breath to movement and movement to sips!!! We will go through a gentle flowing yoga class comprised of the poses that we know and love. Don't worry if you’ve never practiced yoga before. No flexibility is required! This class is for all levels and is designed for you to relax, be among friends and escape for a while.

Gallery at Hood Street is hosting a Plein Air painting event on Saturday, May 11, 2019 that will spotlight different focal points of our beautiful City of McDonough!  The artwork will be created, exhibited and judged at our Opening Reception the SAME DAY!  1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place and honorable mention will be awarded by nationally acclaimed artist Eddie Freeland. 
 
$45.00 Entry Fee *covers permissions/coordination of off-site painting, entry of up to two pieces into the art show (artwork must be a piece created during the 5/11/19 Plein Air paint event) and a swag bag.

About the Artist:

With her nature inspired subjects, award-winning and local artist, Ada Astacio reveals the beauty within our surroundings. Her work has been featured in several local galleries, as well as, displayed in the office of the Governor of Georgia.  She enjoys teaching watercolor and drawing workshops, where she is constantly amazed by the creativity of her students.

During this workshop, you will explore how to draw a transparent glass vase.
